To design the best assays, INOVA utilizes the best antigens

INOVA TECHNOLOGY

EXPERTISE IN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE DIAGNOSTICS IS INTEGRAL TO OUR ABILITY TO DISCOVER NOVEL AUTOIMMUNE ANTIGENS AND RAPIDLY COMMERCIALIZE UNIQUE ASSAYS TO SERVE THE HEALTHCARE COMMUNITY

For over 20 years, INOVA has produced innovative, autoimmune disease assays using both novel and “time-tested” methodologies with the single purpose of producing better clinical results to aid patient diagnosis and care.

OPTIMIZED ANTIGEN SOURCES

  • Native
  • Recombinant
  • Synthetic Peptide

The key to autoimmune disease diagnostics is presenting an antigen in a configuration where it immunologically binds “clinically significant” autoantibodies associated with a particular disease, and which can be separated and measured. The best antigen maintains the antigenic configuration or epitopes that bind disease-specific autoantibodies with high clinical sensitivity and specificity, once incorporated into the immunoassay.

INOVA has the expertise and capability to prepare and choose the best antigens for the specific assay among native, recombinant or synthetic peptide sources. The optimal antigen for each assay is chosen for clinical suitability by comparing various antigens against clinically characterized specimens, and has a long history of further validating that choice in clinical studies.

Research, product development and manufacturing groups are vertically integrated allowing INOVA to maintain high quality standards by producing key raw materials, purifying native antigens or internally producing recombinant and synthetic peptide antigens using a host of technologies and techniques.

LABORATORY TECHNIQUES

  • Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA)
  • ELISA
  • Ouchterlony
  • Multiplex (Luminex®)
  • Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA) - Under Development

While antigens are the key to autoimmune diagnostics, various specific methods are often necessary to produce the best clinical results with those antigens. INOVA’s first tests included IFA and Ouchterlony assays in the 1980’s, with INOVA introducing the first commercially available ANCA IFA slide in 1991.  INOVA rapidly expanded its product line into ELISA and multiplex techniques to bring unique assays and solutions to healthcare diagnostics, including QUANTA Plex™ ENA 4 as the first FDA-cleared LUMINEX® assay to market in 2001.

Through the recent acquisition by the Werfen Group, INOVA now has access to the BIO-FLASH™ chemiluminescence immunoassay technologies which will allow in the near future, random access, autoimmune assay results in as little as 30 minutes.

While INOVA’s past 20 years have seen exciting innovation, it’s clear that the coming decades will hold even greater promise for new autoimmune disease diagnostic solutions with INOVA leading the way.
